After making my first 2024 flag, I made another reflecting my current view of the “American Dream.” I questioned how I still uphold its ideals and how I’m unlearning their toxic parts. The white‑picket‑fence dream was taught early, but I’ve since reevaluated what matters: family, home, success/celebration, identity, and honoring tu cultura. Many from immigrant, Black and Brown, and mixed backgrounds share the goal of building a better future while preserving cultural values.
