Here’s an in progress shot of my latest painting. The sweet moments I have with my dad and the inside jokes we share with one another has been a tool for understanding the complexities of my Mexican-American identity. Hand painted advertisements have been an inspiration recently, specifically the weathered down and deteriorating effects they go through. It reflects how outside forces have influenced insecurities onto myself and the disconnection surrounding my identity.
